Advantage of the SLR Camera Over The Point and Shoot Camera
There are many differences in the SLR Camera and the Point and Shoot Cameras, aside from the personal choice, there are some technical reasons why one is better than the other. Advantages of the Point and Shoot Camera

- Fixed Lens: Every point and shoot cameras are designed with a fixed lens, you don't need to change lens for any picture that you want to take.
- Depth of Field: Depends on what you are using the camera for but a point and shoot camera cannot separate the background from the foreground in pictures so everything appears just like you see it with your eye.
Disadvantages of the Point and Shoot Camera
- Quality: Since these cameras are smaller the quality of the pictures is not the same as a SLR camera. SLR cameras come with more megapixels.
- Adaptability: The point and shoot cameras are not able to upgraded, if you want a new lens or a flash then you have a buy a whole new camera.
- Shooting In the Dark: Almost impossible with a point and shoot camera.
Advantages of the SLR Camera
- Better Image Quality: When you use a SLR camera, the design has a better and bigger sensor than the point and shoot cameras do. The bigger the senor the wider and better image you will get and the quality of the pictures are a lot better
- Better Light Sensitivity: With a SLR, there is less noise and this camera allows you to work in places where the light may not be bright but the images will capture best on these cameras. They have a better adjustment to the light surrounding the image than the point and shoot cameras.
- Faster Shutter and Focus Speed: You can take more pictures in seconds with an SLR camera than you would a point and shoot camera. The professional SLR cameras can take up to 10 pictures every second.
- What You See Is What You Shoot: With a SLR camera and the reflex mirror design, you can look through the lens rather than the pinhole on a point and shoot camera.
There are so many other advantages of the SLR and the disadvantages are that they are noisy, too expensive and they do weigh a bit more than the point and shoot cameras. In the end the decision of what camera to use is yours and you should do some research on the camera that you want and see what camera either the point and shoot or the SLR would best suit your purpose.
